چکیده
The presence of antibiotic sulfadiazine (SFD) poses threats to the ecosystem and human health, traditional wastewater treatment processes are not ideal for removal. Therefore, it is urgent develop with high efficiency targeting sulfadiazine. This study investigated degradation mineralization mechanisms SFD by ozone-based catalysis including ozone/persulfate (PS) ozone/peroxymonosulfate (PMS). degradation, byproducts were monitored HPLC, TOC LC/MS, respectively. was efficiently removed two processes. Ozone/PMS showed removal 97.5% after 1 min reduction 29.4% 20 from effluents. affected pH, oxidant dosage, concentration anions. In processes, hydroxyl radicals (OH•) sulfate (SO4•−) contributed SFD. pathways under included hydroxylation, opening pyrimidine ring SO2 extrusion. results this demonstrate that have good potential elimination antibiotics water/wastewater

Required ozone doses for removing pharmaceuticals from wastewater effluents.
The aim of the this study was to investigate the ozone dosage required to remove active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from biologically treated wastewater of varying quality, originated from different raw wastewater and wastewater treatment processes. Secondary effluents from six Swedish wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) were spiked with 42 APIs (nominal concentration μg/L) and treated wit...
متن کاملDisinfection of Primary Municipal Wastewater Effluents Using Continuous UV and Ozone Treatment
UV radiation and ozonation were investigated as disinfection alternatives for the wastewater treatment plant. The inactivation of total and fecal coliforms using ozone and ultraviolet radiation as separate treatments was evaluated. Different ozone concentrations (3 to 40 mg O3/L) were applied and UV fluencies ranging from 8.5 to 12 mJ/cm at different pH values (from 5 to 9) were tested. Best re...
متن کاملSynergistic Effects of the Combination of Ozone and Powdered Activated Carbon for the Elimination of Emerging Contaminants from Hospital Wastewater
Scope of the present study was the comparison of two advanced water treatment technologies – ozonation and powdered activated carbon adsorption (PAC) – with respect to the elimination of emerging contaminants. Main objective was the assessment of synergistic effects arising from the combination of both technologies in one wastewater treatment plant. The study was conducted at a full-scale plant...
متن کاملNitrous oxide emissions from wastewater treatment processes.
Nitrous oxide (N(2)O) emissions from wastewater treatment plants vary substantially between plants, ranging from negligible to substantial (a few per cent of the total nitrogen load), probably because of different designs and operational conditions. In general, plants that achieve high levels of nitrogen removal emit less N(2)O, indicating that no compromise is required between high water quali...
متن کاملConvenient and Efficient Elimination of Heavy Metals from Wastewater Using Smart Pouch with Biomaterial
A newly developed Smart Pouch with enclosed biomaterial (Aloe vera and coconut husk powder) has been experimented for elimination of heavy metals i.e. (Pb2+, Cu2+, Ni2+ and Zn2+) from wastewater. The effect of concentration, pH, temperature, contact duration etc. was investigated using batch experiments which resulted that the Pouch may be accepted for convenient, efficient and low-cost accumul...
